Hello... I need to know what this folder is for?  I just bought a brand new computer and I am finding snap shots of my home security cameras in this folder taken 2 years ago?   This computer is a week old and I want to know how and where did this folder find these photo's?  This is extremely bazar.  I don't even have snapshots set up on my security cameras.    I am using Windows 10 Home Edition.

    \AppData\Local\Packages\microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\Files\S0\8

    This is the full path... so I don't understand why there are only a select few images if this is associated to my onedrive?   The funny thing is I can not find these images anywhere by doing a search.  They came off of my security camera.. I remember that day very well.   So why are only a few random images copied to this folder on my New Computer?  It had to copy them from somewhere?  This is disturbing.

    That's the start menu apps  People / Mail / Calendar  (used to be anyhow, maybe people is separated now) Those are probably synced with your user profile in mail or onedrive.

    Although my issue is not what OP described but it's related and thanks to the answers from this thread I managed to figure out what to do. I had old emails with malware attachments lingering in my inbox, and it was syncing to my desktop. In my hotmail I searched for the email attachment my virus scanner picked up and marked it as spam. Problem solved.

    I just had the same doubts about microsoft email app and Mike P is right.

    I was using the microsoft inbox app on my windows 10 and my antivirus saw that I had sensitive files in this folder I've never seen before. So, in fact, it is really a sync from files from your email. To solve the copied files sync (it can be a security fail since you can email yourself anything as password, name and addresses, banks info, any files really) I went to my inbox app, click ''settings'', choose ''manage accounts'', and then choose your email account, click on ''Change mailbox sync settings'' and there you can manage the sync.

    After the changes, click done and look in your folder microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps_ blah blah blah, there should be no more copied files.

    And there is the option to remove this account from the device if needed.

    Hope it helps.

    It could be Microsoft Outlook (as it was for me). It can be any microsoft apps that use communication (as the windowscommunicationsapps refers too). Microsoft Outlook will sync your email files from your hotmail.

    If it is Microsoft Outlook and you do not want any files sync, go to the Microsoft Outlook application :

    -> Click ''settings''

    -> Choose ''manage accounts''

    -> And then choose your email account

    -> Click on ''Change mailbox sync settings'' and there you can manage the sync.

    Hope it helps.
