[ EDIT: Deleted previous post ]

JDoddy just posted on his thread with a fix. He disabled his AV and deleted the DX folder from Registry, rebooted and all is good.

Before deleting the folder 'export' it for backup as a precaution.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DirectX

Or, for a less radical approach you can edit the Registry key as shown in the article below

Interesting. This is the second thread in two days regarding Steam having DirectX problems with new machines,

and getting errors when the game tries to install DirectX

(which is already fully installed in Win10. Or should be, but games don't bother asking permission to install DX any more.

They just go ahead and install DX automatically, which can corrupt some DX files at times).

Your post seems to verify there is an issue with Steam, but the other person tried reinstalling the Steam client and that didn't help.

Still don't know what the real issue is.  Have a read of that thread.   --- HERE ---

Don't post on his thread though. Come back here with your comments and updates on your problem.

"i have tried many things and none of them seem to work "

I really don't know why this is happening. As I mentioned in the other thread, there have been a number of posts regarding

this particular error since Win10 came on the scene, and I don't recall it happening to people on Win7.

Still, it appears there is something going on with Steam in this case. It must be conflicting with something, and whatever that is,

it seems to be affecting new machines.

I've looked through those logs in the past, but they don't really offer anything useful other than the obvious - 'file xxx failed to install', etc.

    • It's interesting that the progress bar for the DX installer in your image is at the end, which should indicate the DX files have been installed/reinstalled.

I wonder what would happen if you just leave that Window open and try to run the game again ?

If you look through System 32 and find all of the d3dx9 files are not there you may have to resort to extracting the files as JDoddy

did to get Garry's Mod running.

Once extracted, cross check those files with what you see in System32 and copy any missing files into System32. You shouldn't need

to worry about the sysWOW64 files for CS-GO, unless it's been updated to run with a 64bit .exe.

    • If CS-GO already has any specific DX files in it's main folder, you may find copying those specific files from either System32,

or the DX installer unpack folder into the games folder may help. If those files are corrupt.

Or... How about if you delete the whole DX installer sub-folder from the game ?  Steam is then likely to download it again as an 'update'

to try and  'install' DX,  and this may fix a corrupted installer package that's there now ?

Wishful thinking is Steam, and the other game publishers/developers would just butt out and stop doing unnecessary

forced DX installs. Not going to happen...

You can download the main C++ Redist from MS. Game that use them should install the one they use, but no harm getting a head

start on them. However, MS don't have the many sub-versions for '05/'08, which should not be

a problem as the games that used modified versions will (should) install them.
