Driver won't install, Code 28

I'm trying to plug in a a scientific camera to my laptop and in the Device Manager it gives me the "Code 28: The drivers for this device are not installed" issue. I'm trying to use a ThorLabs Scientific Camera, and I went to their site to download the software and drivers associated with my device, installed them and nothing changed. I then talked with their technical support and we tried it again but also with an older software as well.

The camera works fine with other people's computers and I can still use the USB ports that I'm plugging the camera in. So I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware issue. When I try to browse for the driver on my computer via the Update Driver button, it never finds the associated drivers, is that supposed to happen? I did this after I attempted to update the drivers via the software. Will it purposely not find a driver if I already used that driver to update it? I'm not really sure what else I could try, other than maybe resetting my laptop and trying it again? I'm still not sure that this would guarantee the drivers install correctly...

When I use the hardware and device troubleshooter, it gives me the same thing, Windows can't find any new driver for the hardware. "Unknown device doesn't have a driver Not Fixed".

    Yes I tried that too.

I have a feeling that if I reset my PC and try again, it might work?

When I try it with my desktop, I'm getting the same issue... I can't figure out why my 2 computers won't connect, but my coworkers will.

I used the Reset this PC and kept my files on my laptop, and it still doesn't recognize the device. One thing different I did notice was that In the file type, the .sys files of my reset PC were of System File type, whereas previously they were of NI AWR Design Environment Type. I thought that by resetting my PC the change in file type might fix the issue but no avail.

I guess when I installed AWR it set itself to manage the file types, I tried to do the open with option to remove AWR as the default app to open the program, but I couldn't get it working

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply.

    1. Have you recently made any changes on your computer, prior to the issue?
    2. Do you see any yellow exclamation in device manager?

I suggest you to roll back the driver and check, if that is working fine.

    Hope it helps.

    Windows 10

Since I tried plugging in this camera, so about a week ago.

I've seen that page already and the suggestions on installing the updated driver aren't working since I installed the cameras software and the device is still unknown.
