Colour Calibration Problem

Hello,

I have a dual monitor setup, with mismatched monitors. They are not auto-adjusting. Last time I successfully calibrated my displays was about a year ago, and I still have the same hardware, which is a custom build. It includes a Gigabyte motherboard, AMD FX 6300 6-core processor, and an NVIDIA Geforce 660 graphics card. I am on Windows 10.

I have updated my graphics drivers and restarted my computer. I have tried launching in administrative mode.

Now when I try to use the Display Color Calibration it only previews the present set of changes for a flash before reverting the display to what it was, while I am performing the calibration. Ie, when I slide the blue gamma adjustment slider, it will show me the change while it is moving, but if I stop moving or let go of the click the display goes back to what it was, while the indicator stays in place. It is impossible to fine-tune the colour portion of the calibration with this happening. This happens on both monitors. This makes me feel like I have self-correcting monitors, but I know I do not, as I didn't have this problem last year.

Any suggestions on where the problem might be?

Thanks

Sorry I got ahead of myself on Method 3, but when I restarted my computer and the graphics drivers were reinstalled I still have the same issue.

    Hi,

Method 1 resulted in receiving an error when I tried to start color calibration in safe mode: "An error occurred while Display Color Calibration was preparing to calibrate the selected display. Unspecified error"

Method 2 I had already completed previously.

Method 3 isn't testable since the sliders don't appear when there are no graphics drivers installed.

Got anything else for me? :(

    Hello,

    Thank you for the reply.

I suggest you to uninstall display drivers from device manager and then go to your computer manufacturer’s website and install the latest display drivers from the website. After installing the drivers, reboot the computer and check if it works.

    Hello Nightwinkle,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forum.

Color calibration will help you set the color quality in your computer to most accurate colors and black levels. As its not working fine, let us go ahead and troubleshoot on the issue. Kindly follow the below methods.

Method 1: Put your computer on safe mode and clean boot.

Step 1: Safe mode starts Windows in a basic state, using a limited set of files and drivers. It can help you troubleshoot problems on your PC. You may follow the article on how to start your PC in safe mode in Windows 10

Step 2: Clean boot starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program. Follow the article on How to perform a clean boot in Windows 10.

Clean Boot disclaimer: A ‘clean boot’ starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.

Your computer may temporarily lose some functionality while in a clean boot environment, however, that functionality will return when you reset the computer to start normally after you have finished your troubleshooting.

    Method 2: Enable screen calibration.

    • Go to search window and type Color Management and open the application.
    • Go to Advanced tab > select Change system defaults > again click on Advanced tab **** and check the box Use Windows display calibration.
    • Click on Close and select Devices option. Select Set as Default Profile and Close the window.

    Method 3: Uninstall display drivers.

Sometimes, the issue might have occurred due to corrupt drivers that are being installed on your computer. So uninstall all the graphic drivers that are being installed from the device manager. Reboot the computer and it will install the right drivers for your PC automatically.

    Hope it helps.
