Western Digital backup software not loading

I transferred my WD Passport to a new Windows 10 computer from a Windows 7 computer.  The WD backup software will not load.  The computer recognizes the drive but not the target to backup.

Did you use WD App from Windows Store to install on Windows 10?

My question wasn't clear.  I'm not trying to transfer the backup.  I just want to continue using the Passport as a backup but the backup software won't load at all.  WD troubleshooted and can't figure it out.  They say it's a Windows 10 issue.

In the Support link I supplied above, Western Digital advises getting the app from the store.

"WD App is an application for Windows 10 and Windows 8 that reads media from a WD drive and categorizes it into Photos, Music and Videos for easy access. The app is available through the App Store in Windows 8 and automatically installs when a compatible WD drive is plugged into a Windows 8 computer."

Thanks for the help but I'm not sure what this is.  I used the link on the WD web site to download the backup software.

    Hi, Paula,

    Are you using WD Smartware?

Use the same software to restore the files that you used to backup the files.

Click WD SmartWare - You'll see a list of Unsupported Products. Is yours on the list?
