GPU not showing up in Task Manager (WDDM 2.2)

It's exactly as the subject says. I've done the whole running dxdiag.exe and checking the WDDM (which is 2.2), and right-clicking on the name-sorting-thing in the task manager to see if GPU is simply unchecked, but it's not even there.

It's a Radeon RX 480 and an AMD CPU if that'll help any.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Mattias. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

    1. Confirm you have later than Version 1709 Which is the first version to support this. Check at Settings > System > About.
    2. Update the Display driver from the PC or Display adapter maker's Support Downloads web page for your exact model number, HP Serial Number or Dell Service Tag - from the sticker on the PC.

While there check also for newer chipset, BIOS, network, sound, USB3 and other drivers, comparing to the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu.

if this doesn't give you the latest or ideal driver for what you need, compare it to the driver offered by the Intel driver update Utility here: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/...

or the Nvidia Update utility here: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=e...

or the AMD autodect utility here: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/P...

For Display issues one fix that is working is to Roll back or Uninstall the Driver on the Display Device > Driver tab, restart PC to reinstall driver.

You can also try older drivers in Device Manager > Display device > Driver tab > Update Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick.

Then you will know you've tried everything in addition to Windows Update drivers.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

    Hi again Mattias.

This is why it's always a good thing to make the latest media from Media Creation Tool which will always provide the latest version.

If you want to run it yourself just download the ISO or create the media now, click to mount the ISO or open the media, right click to Run as Administrator to Upgrade manually which is a more stable method than Windows Update.

Hopefully you'll be able to see the GPU in Task Manager then but if not because of one of the reasons in the articles I linked, then there are 3rd party tools to do this.

Thanks mate, just reinstalled windows on a new pc and didn't realise it doesn't auto-update to the newest version available, even after a couple of "restart and update" clicks.
