I get an annoying white line across my screen. How do I get rid of it? It just showed up  a couple of days ago, now it's there as soon as the Laptop starts up.

Ok this is very likely a problem with lcd ribbon cable or the panel it self, so if you are a technical expert pull out the tool kit and open up the bezel of the lcd and re-secure/reinsert the ribbon cable to the back of the lcd and if it doesnt repair the issue you need to replace the lcd or the ribbon cable.

There was a first line, thicker than this one, going across the top of the screen- I ignored it, because it didn't really affect me. That one is thicker than this one . They ae both Horizontal.  The first one is Sharpie marker thick, the second more annoying one is Ballpoint pen thick. I changed the Background, it did nothing. If I press hard the colour changes on the Screen, but Lightly, no. The Lines are both white - they look like a series of vertical small lines, not one solid line....I cannot cell phone picture it for you because I don't have th cable to transfer the pic to the Computer. I DO have a  proper camera, though.

    Hello BringerofDeaTh,
I've seen this happen once or twice, is the line horizontal or vertical? Is the line affected if you move the lcd portion back and forth? Usually it's a connectivity issue with ribbon cable from the bottom portion where the motherboard is to the screen portion. It's a slim chance it can be software related or lcd the actual lcd is damaged. Do these few things for me and we can get a better idea of what to do.

    1. How big is the line? Use any item as a reference pencil tip, eraser, dime, quarter?
    2. Change your background and see if the line is affected by the change?
    3. Lightly press the screen does the color change?
    4. Lastly if you have a monitor or auxiliary screen extend/mirror/show on second screen is the line still there?

Let me know the outcome and I'll provide you further guidance on what to do.

    Waiting for your reply,
    Yomi Thomas

    Hi,

If it appears in the boot screen as well, the display is probably burned and requires replacement.
