Intel HD Graphics Driver 4000 Problems with Windows

The driver for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with Windows. Contact the hardware vendor for a new driver. (Code 48)

Is there any available solution(s) at the moment, it is my first time to encounter this problem with Windows 10.

If there's a solution it's going to have to come from Intel because it's Intel's problem to solve.  According to this web page on Intel's website, Intel isn't supporting that graphics chip on Windows 10.

Hi Hitch. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Was it delivered by WIndows Update? If so uninstall it at Settings > Update & Security > WIndows Update > Update History. Then immediately install Hide Updates tool, use it to check for Updates until it catches the update and blocks it:

    http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f2...

More here on blocking problem drivers before they reappear: https://www.howtogeek.com/223864/how-to-uninsta...

Then Update the Display driver from the PC or Display adapter maker's Support Downloads web page for your exact model number, HP Serial Number or Dell Service Tag - from the sticker on the PC. Exclude the problem driver.

While there check also for newer chipset, BIOS, network, sound, USB3 and other drivers, comparing to the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu.

if this doesn't give you the latest or ideal driver for what you need, compare it to the driver offered by the Intel driver update Utility here: http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/...

For Display issues one fix that is working is to Roll back or Uninstall the Driver on the Display Device > Driver tab, restart PC to reinstall driver.

You can also try older drivers in Device Manager > Display device > Driver tab > Update Driver > Browse > Let Me Pick.

Then you will know you've tried everything in addition to Windows Update drivers.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

    Hi
A recent Intel driver indeed had issue like this. Have you checked the manufacturer website for the newer driver?

    Hi, Bill,

Most commonly this error is generated when the device driver is not compatible with your operating system.

    Is this an Intel Driver?

Use this Auto-Detect to locate available driver updates.

    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support...

    Start > Type Control Panel

    Click on Troubleshooters

Select Use a Printer to run the Troubleshooter

    HP 4000 Printer Driver downloads

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservic...

Usually obtaining the latest upgrades or drivers from the device's manufacturer will solve this problem. However if it does not then you can also try using the troubleshooting wizard to fix the problem. Perform the steps issued by the troubleshooting wizard carefully to resolve the error
