Hi donaldpschulz,
Thank you for posting your concern on Microsoft Answer Community.
Are you aware of any major updates that were installed recently?
I see that you have tried few steps. However, we can go ahead and try few steps to see if we can resolve this issue.
Method 1 : Check if the print spooler dependency services are running.
- Click the "Start" button and type "Services.msc" (no quotes) in the Start Search field. Hit "Enter."
- Scroll down and find Print Spooler in the Services list. Double-click to open your print spooler
- Press "Stop," then click "OK" to temporarily stop your print spooler so you can reset it.
- Click the "Start" button and type "%WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers" (no quotes) in the Start Search box. Press "Enter".
- Delete all files in the folder the pops up.
- Go back to the Print Spooler services by clicking "Start," Search field and pressing "Enter."
- Open your Print Spooler services again by double-clicking it.
- Click "Start" to reset your print spooler and click "OK."
Method 2: Run Printer Troubleshooter.
I suggest you to follow the article to run the printing troubleshooter, and check if that work.
Method 3: Remove "Print to File" option from Printer port properties
- Go to your "Print" option under General tab and ensure that your standard printer is selected in the drop-down list.
- Select the printer.
- Look for a check box toward the right of the print dialog box that says "Print to File."
- Uncheck "Print to file".
- Restart the PC.
Hope it helps.
