How to sign a PDF document on your computer w/o printing it up.

Hi,

Was emailed a document that requires my signature.

I have Windows 10.

Can open it easily, and see the pen logo in the upper right hand corner. Am I supposed to use that and, with my mouse, write my name?

How do I save it so I can email the signed document back to the other party?

Thanks!

Hi Julia. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

If the pen button will let you sign with your finger or mouse, then fine. If not you might want to install Adobe Acrobat which lets you interactively fill in forms better than built-in Edge for PDF files.

You can also print out the doument, sign it, then scan it back into the PC to attach and send back. This is what I do since signing with mouse always makes a mess for me.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

    Hi Julia,

I believe you use your mouse (if no touchscreen is handy) to sign it, then go to the printing menu (CTRL + P) and select "Microsoft Print to PDF" or something along those lines. From there, you click Print, and you select your destination and name on where to save it. From there, once you've saved it to another PDF, you can e-mail this to the other party.

If you need help with this, please let me know. Hope this helps!

    Hi, Greg,

Thanks so much for the rapid and helpful reply. I was able to sign it on the screen (using the finest-point ballpoint pen setting helped), and emailed document back to client.

If that doesn't work, I will do the print up, sign and scan method.

    Again, thank you.

    Best,

    Sarah
