The password to logon to the router's configuration software is separate from the Wireless WPA2 password. So you are dealing with 2 passwords to recover or reset/change your WPA2 password.

Temporarily connect your laptop using Cat5/ Cat5 cable and then logon to the router using the password you choose, them go to the wireless configuration option to reset / change your WPA2 password.

If you forgot the password to log into the router via a Cat5 / Cat6 cable then contact your ISP (Verizon, Comcast, Etc.,) or the router manufactures Tech support for the instructions on resetting the router, configuring a new "Router" password and then configuring WPA2 and the WPA2 password.

Suggest you get in touch with your internet provider. They should be able to see your router info.

If you are referring to your wifi password, most routers can be addressed through your internet browser with something like this. Might even be marked on your router back or bottom, providing you didn't change this.

    User Name: cusadmin

    PW:  password

If you have a router you may be able to find it if they have software.  Netgear has software named Netgear Genie.  It also allows you to set up networks besides the one that came with the router.

step 1: If you have connected to the current wifi, you can use your Internet Explorer to enter the router management URL, then use the router's default username and password to login, the WPA2 password can be found on that webpage. If you have found the WPA2 password, step 2 can be ignored.

step 2: If you haven't connected to the current wifi and you have forgotten the WPA2 password, you should press the reset button on the router for a few seconds, when you have saw the LED shining, release the reset button, at this time, the wifi password will entirely be reseted, so you can use the default wifi password or connect directly, then following the step 1 to operate.

If you are already connected to your wifi but simply cant remember the password its simple as, Have a read of the following https://plannerwire.net/how-to-find-the-current-wifi-password-in-windows-10/

If its the default password that came with the router, usually its written on the underside of it.
