    Hi Andrew

Here is an analysis I wrote based on which edition I think is best:

Information in the above link is sourced from a trusted Microsoft MVP blog.

There is no *difference*. They are the same.

So, why does Professional cost more than Home? Because Professional comes with a few extra programs that Home doesn't have. To reiterate what I said above, except for those extra programs, they are the same.

Do you need those extra programs? There's no way any of us can know for sure, but whether you are a home user of a business user, you should look here

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compare and decide for yourself.

And let me one more point: very few home users and even some business users don't need them, and it's most likely that Home would be fine for you.

    Hi Andrew

Windows 10 Pro contains a couple of extra features to the Home Version:

Bitlocker - allows you to encrypt your hard drive or individual folders

You can initiate Remote Desktop from Windows 10 Pro

Device Guard - The ability to lock down a PC

Domain Join - Connect to a Windows Domain

If you are an ordinary home user, you will not need these extra features on your system . ..

    Hello,

It depends on your requirement. Both editions are good, if they fulfill your needs.

You can compare the editions here and choose right one for you:

    Regards.

You can compare the differences here - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compare. As you can see some features are exclusive to Pro like encryption through Bitlocker, features under Business – Management and deployment and deployments. For normal uses, Home is sufficient but if you are using it for commercial works, Pro is recommended.
