Windows 10 frequently disconnects from WIFI

I am experiencing frequent WIFI disconnection after a recent Window10 update.  I’ve taken the following actions and none helps:

  1. Followed all MS technical advices  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10741/windows-fix-network-connection-issues
  2. Updated the wireless network adaptor drive to the most updated version
  3. Switched to a new 5G wireless modem/router

The issue has persisted for 2 weeks by now.  There was no pattern on WiFI disconnection frequency; the Ethernet connection works fine; and none of my other devices (those that did not go through Window update) is affected.  In the Windows network diagnostics just now, I notice that Windows is still identifying an older version of the wireless network adapter (Provider Microsoft, File date 2018.04.11).  This is perplexing, as the most updated version (Manufacturer / Provider Intel, Issue date 2018.10.18) has already been uploaded to Windows. 

I am extremely frustrated, and appreciate if you can share a light of how I may solve the problem.

    Hi User_75,

    try changing the network adapter driver.

    1. Go to Device Manager> Network Adapters, right click on the network adapter you are using> Update Driver.
    2. Select "Search for driver software on your computer"
    3. Select "Choose from a list of drivers available on your computer"
    4. Windows will propose 2 or more compatible drivers for the network adapter. Select a different driver from the one currently in use> Next. The driver will be installed automatically. Restart the PC.

    Hi User_75,

    I'm glad you solved it. Restoring the network and restoring the wi-fi adapter, previously done, probably reinstalled a different driver that was not perfectly compatible.

    Bravo Franco, it works!   I followed your suggestion and have enjoyed stable network connection since then; so far – for nearly 6 hours now – no more relapses; system appears stable.  I am keeping my fingers crossed.  Thank you so much for your helps, Franco.  Happy New Year!

    BTW, I wonder if it was the combination of network reset, followed by resetting the wireless network adapter (Step 4 in your recommendation is critical, I think) that helps resolving the issue.  …

    Dear Kapil, Thank you for your advice.  I reset the network as you suggested and, unfortunately, am still experiencing the same issue.  The WiFi connection dripped off in less than 1 hour.  Here I have a naïve question:  At what system restoring point does the network reset reconnect to?  Before I did network reset, I checked the system restore points.  There I found when I updated the Wireless network adaptor drive, but the previous timepoint when Windows10 update took place was not listed.  Is this why the network reset didn’t help?
