Unable to install Realtek Audio driver, Error: This device cannot start. (Code 10)

I am trying to install Realtek Audio on my Windows 10 desktop.

Having downloaded and installed the driver from the Realtek web site, I can see it listed in Programs and Features, but it doesn’t appear in Sound, where I find AnySoft Virtual Sound Device, and four entries for Via HD.

In Device Manager I see AnySoft and Via and an entry called ‘High Definition Audio Device” which I take to be Realtek

Double-clicking on ‘High Definition Audio Device” brings up the information that “This device cannot start. (Code 10).

The Driver tab contains driver details.

The Events tab contains:

Any ideas about how I should proceed?

    Hi Nikhar_K:

Thank you for responding to my question.  In fact, for doing so twice.

First, I apologize for the delay in this response to you.  I don't offer any excuse - just shortage of time.

Reading your response, it seems you want me to repeat the actions I took before , as outlined in my original post.

So I repeated the steps I had already taken.  The results were no different than before.

    To repeat:

    • According to Programs and Features in the control panel, Realtek High Definition Audio Driver is installed.
    • However, it is not listed in Sound in the control panel
    • Also, it is not listed in Device Manager
    • It also does not show up when I click "Show hidden devices"
    • And it is not in the list that appears when I expand Sound, video and game controllers

This makes it unfeasible to follow steps 5 through 8 of your instructions.

In answer to your question about my computer:

I have a custom PC with:

    16 gigs RAM

    3.3 gig Intel I5 processor

    A Gigabyte Z370P D3 motherboard

    Three hard drives

Running Windows 10 with the latest updates

Hopefully, you have some further suggestions?

    Regards,

    John
