Casting movies from Windows Media Player to a smart TV

I hope I can make myself clear with this problem:  For the past couple of years, I have been playing movies stored in Windows Media Player on my smart TV.  Then, just yesterday, the connection disappeared as follows:  My computer appears as a source on the TV; the source connects and I have the choice of music, video or pictures.  When I click on video, the files of "folder" and "playlists" appear.  Since I have built playlists, I click on "playlists" then "more playlists" and it is here that NONE of my saved playlists that I have used regularly until yesterday NONE come up.  They all exist in Windows Media Player and play there, but they do not show on my smart TV as they had until yesterday.  I have checked all connections that I can think of, both real and virtual but cannot find a solution.  Can anyone help?

    Hi Peter

If you right click one of the videos in Media Player

    Click Open File location

    Right click the video

    Click Cast to Device

Are you still not seeing your smart tv?

    Press Windows key + A

    Click Project

Click connect to a wireless display

Choose the wireless TV if it shows up.
