How can I run Disk Management as administrator?

I have a new Dell, upgrading the SSD and consequently want to move some partitions on the new drive to access the unallocated space.  In Disk Management (Wiindows 10  version 1089) I cannot get any options within the tools - when right clicking any partition, I only get a "Help" option.

Can not find clear instructions on how to open disk management as administrator, and suspect this is the issue.

Hi Preston, this is not a permissions issue, it is caused by Windows limited partitioning capabilities . . .

From looking at your screenshot, do you want to extend your C drive into that Unallocated space?

If so, Windows will refuse to do that, because there are other partitions between the two, you need to use a 3rd party utility to do that

Download the free version of AOMEI partition assistant, the free version is fully featured, easy to use and will allow you to extend your C drive into the unallocated space, by automaticallt moving those other partition to the right . . .

    Hi Preston,

I'm an Independent Advisor here to help.

Open Disk Management as you usually would, then in the Taskbar, go to the icon where Disk Management is, right-click that, and a new context menu should appear. Right-click Disk Management and click Run as administrator. A new instance that is ran as an administrator should be there.

Hope this helps. Let me know if this works or not.

    Hi Preston

Can you post a screenshot of your Disk Management? It might be the partition layout that is preventing you from making modifications.

Could you confirm if this also happens in the default Administrator account?

    Open Start

    Type: cmd

    Right click CMD

    Click Run as administrator

    At the command prompt, type:

    net user administrator /active:yes

    Hit Enter

Close command prompt, restart, then try signing into the Administrator account.

Launch Disk Management then check if you can make modifications.
