    HI Jeffrey,

Do you have already have Windows 10 media built?

If so, Boot it to your laptop, then Get to a page where it shows you all your partitions, highlight and delete them all, until you have 1 unpartitioned drive, then click “next” and the install process will start.

Let me know if this helps, we’ll try to figure this out!

    Hi,

I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 2-Year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

Your disk might be failing. Does your laptop have built in Diagnostics? Run the hard drive test and let us know what it reports.

Hi Jeffrey, I’m Virginia an independent advisor here.

Chkdsk can take several hours - longer than 5 depending on the size of your hard drive, I have a 2Tb drive which can take over 24 hours to complete a scan & yes it will will appear to stall at several points.

If you wish to stop a chkdsk at every startup either allow it to complete or once logged in open cmd prompt/powershell with admin & type/paste: fsutil dirty query C: & click enter.
