Hi bestecf, I really sorry for this inconvenience but this issue might occur due to some corrupted system files or damaged operating system files. We suggest that you try performing a repair upgrade by following Andre Da Costa's instructions in his article to resolve the issue.

    Hi,

My name is Angel. I am an Independent Advisor. Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Try Manually register Msi.dll using the Microsoft Register Server

When you install software that uses the dependency of msi.dll, the software will automatically register the file. In some cases, your DLL file may not register properly, and as a result, an "msi.dll not registered" error will occur. Fortunately, you can use a built-in utility called "Microsoft Register Server" (regsvr32.exe) to re-register your msi.dll file.

How to re-register msi.dll from an elevated command prompt (Windows 10):

    -Click on the Start button.

-Type "command" in the search box ... DO NOT press ENTER yet.

-Press and hold CTRL-Shift on your keyboard and press ENTER.

-You will be asked for a Permissions dialog box.

    -Click on Yes

    -Type the following command: regsvr32 / u msi.dll.

-Press ENTER. This will VOID THE RECORD of your file.

    -Type the following command: regsvr32 / i msi.dll.

-Press ENTER. This will RECORD your file.

    -Close the command prompt window.

    -Re-start your device.

    Let me know how was.

    Angel.
