Where can I buy genuine windows 7 ultimate 64 bit?

I currently use windows 7 ultimate, 32 bit version and have been advised to upgrade to the 64 bit version. I keep getting an error message regarding the memory dump on my desktop. Consensus of opinion believe that this is being caused by lapses of the RAM module on my computer as seeing my computer having 4GB of RAM but only using 4GB at maximum.

Where can I purchase this software? Is it still available and if so where? I have used Windows 7 for years and love its stability and features. I do not want to upgrade to Windows 10 until I really have to.

All advice much appreciated!

    Hi Bill

Thank you so much for your informative reply. I definitely will check out Crucial System Scanner.

My version of Windows 7 Ultimate is a retail one. However, I decided to phone Microsoft UK today and they are updating my current 32 bit operating system to Windows 64 bit totally free of charge!!

One of their Level 2 team doing this by remote access in a week's time which gives me enough time to not only back up all my files, but also find if there are any 64 bit versions of my 3rd party software.

I will keep you up to date with developments and may have to contact you again should I run into problems that I'm unable to fix.

    Regards

As I mentioned if you did have a, which you do, Retail license you get it for free.

I am glad you are getting it sorted out.

If you need anymore information just let me know.

    Cheers.

It will use only about 3.25GBs out of the 4GBs now anyway and the rest is reserved for hardware, etc

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

32bit > 64bit is not done by any upgrade.

It requires a clean install of the operating system.

Save all your data and be prepared to reinstall all your 3rd party programs.

    Then do a clean install:

But before you attempt it, check with your computer/laptop manufacturer to make sure that they support and supply 64bit drivers for your machine and for the edition of Windows 7 you are licensed for.

Also check your computer specs to see if you have or can upgrade to at least 4GBs of RAM, as without at least 4GBs of RAM you are wasting your time installing a 64bit version.

Or it may be easier for you to download the Crucial Scanner which will tell you what is the matching RAM for your Motherboard and the max. amount of RAM your Motherboard can accommodate.

You don't tell us what type of license you have: Retail, OEM preinstalled or OEM System Builders license.

If it was Retail you don't need to buy another license as a Retail covers 32/64 bit but with only one installed at a time.

You take your chances no matter where you buy 7 now.

Microsoft no longer sells it; try amazon.com.

    Warning:

You do not buy a Product Key by itself, as they are normally stolen/pirated, Volume Licenses which are not for private use, or MSDN keys which are not to be sold by the original subscription holder.

Make sure that you buy the complete sealed package (DVD, license)

Read Section: Beware of Product Keys sold separately.

Microsoft U.S.A. or UK division(s) have no way to simply Upgrade Windows 7 32BIT to Win 7 64BIT,only a new OS installation will work..Also,forget all the current 32BIT 3rd party software currently installed,it will not run with 64BIT OS,all must be reinstalled..To reinstall Windows, start pc in BIOS (F2) key, install the Win 7 64BIT OS cd,set the cd as 1st boot priority,HD 2nd,save & exit BIOS..Look for Press any key to boot to cd,at OS menu, delete partition/create one/format/use default settings.Unplug all but mouse & keyboard for install..Thats all you need, but where does Microsoft UK come up with a plan to change OS settings from 32BIT to 64BIT,can't be done w/o the new install..Sure youre talking to a Tech IT worker,or maybe you talked to  building. mntce dept.......
