I have a fully paid up version of Kaspersky security programme. I just used the free version of CC cleaner which showed it had cleared many problems from my computer. Does this mean that Kaspersky is not doing a complete job?

Please help.

CCleaner is the top tool for most users. And has worked for 10 years+, among several Microsoft OS.

Since Win 10 gets harmed by these tools, a more clear warning would help.

    First, note the following:

Kaspersky is a security program, an anti-virus program. CCleaner is a cleaner program, removing thing that are are needed. They do two very different things and do not duplicate each other.

CCleaner does several useful things, but also does something very dangerous, if you let it. Do *not* use its registry cleaning functionality.

Registry cleaning programs are *all* snake oil. Cleaning of the registry isn't needed and is dangerous. Leave the registry alone and don't use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and what vendors of registry cleaning software try to convince you of, having unused registry entries doesn't really hurt you.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner erroneously removing an entry you need is far greater than any potential benefit it may have.

The CCleaner Registry Cleaner is safer than most, but it is not completely safe and isn't needed. Don't use it.

Let me point out that neither I nor anyone else who warns against the use of registry cleaners has ever said that they always cause problems. If they always caused problems, they would disappear from the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry cleaner and never had a problem with it.

    Thank you Ken,

Your answer was most constructive and I will follow your suggestions to the letter.

I have used the CC registry cleaner in the past, but will leave it alone in future.

    Thanks again.

    Hey

I am a normal user, who is unhealthy interested in systems and locating errors.

CCleaner seams to do the best job regarding Win 10 registry.

Microsofts own tools sometimes fails, and does not show the complete information as CCleaner does.

Kaspersky works just like Ccleaner, and I have not seen any flash reports about Kaspersky and failing.

My educated guess is that Kaspesky is getting "blocked" to do its job, by win 10, without leaving any logs or alerts from Kaspersky.

I have found that running CCleaner, and other software as an administrator, often removes the problem.
