Alright

So this morning I woke up turned on my PC and booted up to an automatic disk repair. So after I let it repair my hard drive I was brought to a menu where it told me continue to windows 10, troubleshoot, advanced options. Obviously I clicked on continue to windows option thinking it’ll be fine and to my suprise I was back to the automatic disk repair screen and eventually back to the previous options...

So at that point I opened my pc and cleaned out all the dust and made sure all the wires were connected and checked again. Nothing. Same thing all over again.

Finally I decided to reset my pc and now it tells me that windows cannot reset my pc!! I have no idea what to do please help! I’ve tried all the options and non of them do anything, they either say no file was found in recovery or that it cannot be reset.

Another thing I did was boot into the onboard diagonstics and got checkmarks for all the tests .

Since I cannot log in and  show you guys my specs Ill provide the model of this prebuilt gaming PC

Alienware ALPHA (i3 2014)

    Hi Dhir

Since those options are not working, your Recovery Image is corrupt, the best option is to clean install Windows 10, that will also repair your Recovery Image . ..

You can reinstall Windows 10 at any time and it will not cost you anything !

Since you previously had Windows 10 installed and activated on that PC during the installation process skip the steps which ask for a product key and select the option 'I am Reinstalling Windows 10 on this PC', and activation will not be an issue, your PC will have a digital entitlement stored on the Microsoft Activation Servers

Make sure you install the same Edition of Windows 10 (Home, Pro . . . etc.) you previously had installed to avoid Activation issues

    Click this link:

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...

to download the Media Creation Tool (Click on Download Tool Now), with that you can download the latest Windows 10 ISO (Select Create Installation Media for Another PC), you can create a bootable USB flash drive (min 8GB) using that tool

Then, Boot your PC from the Installation Media you just created (change Boot Order in your BIOS) to begin installing Windows 10

If you have problems booting from a boot disc, you may have UEFI BIOS:

Insert the Bootable Installation Media, then go into your BIOS and make the following changes:

    1. Disable Secure Boot
    2. Enable Legacy Boot
    3. If Available enable CSM
    4. If Required enable USB Boot
    5. Move the device with the bootable disc to the top of the boot order
    6. Save BIOS changes, restart your System and it should boot from the Installation Media

    Hi

I would recommend you to use another computer to backup the data , you can just plug in a sata cable from another computer and plug it into your Alienware computer harddisk and it should read

You will also need to reformat your computer using external usb as ur internal windows is already corrupted and unable to use the inbuilt reset function

    Hi Dhir

If your hard drive passed all tests, then there is no need to replace that, a clean install would be enough

If you feel your hard drive is on its way out, then certainly an SSD is the way to go, the difference in speed alone is worth it . ..

    Thanks man

My final question is that should I keep my hard drive or replace it?

I ran the system diagnositic tests and they all passed. But ive been advised that my hardrive is faulty and should be replaced. So im probably gonna invest in an SSD? Should I or will that be a waste?
