Windows 10 : Error 0X80070035 (Network Path Not Found)

There are a number of questions relating to this error and I have tried the solutions offered. However, none seem to be quite the same as this.

On my Windows 10 laptop, I can see my main pc (X99) showing in the network list.

However when I click on it to connect I get ...

If I enter the path manually (either X99 or the IP Address) I get the same error, but I can ping the pc successfully from the command prompt.

This is an issue that has only started in the last week or so. Prior to this I could connect without problem from my laptop to my main pc so I'm guessing this might be related to a Windows update issue.

Thanks for any help that anyone can offer.

Thanks for your further suggestions which haven't solved the problem.

I have tired these apart from the re-installing and downgrading Windows which I'm not really comfortable to do. If I was going to downgrade I'd go back to Windows 7 instead.

    Hi Jonathan

If you are running Windows 10 1803, there are some networking issues in that release. So, make sure you are running the latest version, Windows 10 1809:

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wik...

Other things you can try to troubleshoot this issue:

Open Start > Settings > Network & Internet > Status

    Scroll to the bottom

    Click Network and Sharing Center

    Click Change advanced sharing settings

    Expand All Networks

    Under Password protected sharing

Switch between 'Turn on password protected sharing and Turn off password protected sharing'

Then choose 'Turn off password protected sharing'

    Then click 'Save changes'

    Also:

    Press Windows key + R

    Type: optionalfeatures.exe

    Hit Enter

Scroll down to SMB 1.0/CIFS File Sharing Support

    Tick the SMB 1.0/CIFS Client

Untick SMB 1.0/CIFS Automatic Removal and

    Untick SMB 1.0/CIFS Server

    Click OK

    Restart if prompted.

Additional troubleshooting steps you can attempt:

    • shut all computer and network gear down.
    • Turn off IPv6
    • Try browsing to some of the computers manually, press Windows key + R, type: \computername, hit Enter
    • Press Windows key + R

    Type: services.msc

    Hit Enter

    1. Start the "Function Discovery Provider Host" and "Function Discovery Resource Publication" services, and then set them toAutomatic (Delayed Start).
    2. When you open Explorer Network, enable network discovery when you are prompted.

Press Windows key + X > computer management-->shared folders--> choose the shared folder, right click it then click Properties > Share Permissions -->protection that everyone can read and execute, see folder contents and read permissions.

Add the machine to your Windows HOSTS file.

Thanks very much for your response.

I have tried all of this already apart from the updating of Windows to 1809 which I have now done.

    Sadly the problem persists.

Thanks very much for your reply.

The page that you have added a link to is one of the ones I tried before posting this question.

I have been through the checks again but without success.
