    Answers from Canon.

    Dear Mr ten Kate,

    Thank you for your feedback.

Unfortunately, we have to confirm that Canon indeed no longer makes codecs available to view a thumbnail of the RAW images in the Windows Explorer.

The codecs can therefore also not be downloaded or sent by e-mail.

For viewing RAW images, we only provide our software, Digitial Photo Professional.

We are very sorry not to be able to provide you with a solution.

If you have any further questions, please contact us by replying to this message.

    Sincerely,

    Canon Services & Support

    Hi Mark,

You can download Canon's photo software to view and edit RAW image files. It's called Digital Photo Professional, and can be downloaded on the page linked below:

    https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/ho...

You'll need to enter your Canon device's details into the search field to access the appropriate downloads.

Hopefully this helps! Please let me know if you need further support! Thanks!

    Hi,
You would have to install Codec pack for that. Please try installing.

You already have Camera raw processing program you use so downloading another like Canon DPP is a waste of time.  I suggest you get Adobe Raw to DNG converter, because Windows 10 64bit Explorer can view them.  And with them being DNGs you lose NONE of the camera are editing abilities, no matter which editing software you use.

Thankyou for your help however it did not work.

I had already found this site and dismissed it as it was only for CRW and CR2 files. I need Windows 10 to open CR3 files.

    Mark
