Very annoying Sound distortion with realtek integrated audio

I'm having an issue where my sound is distorted. For example, if I click the volume slider so that "bling" noise plays, it sounds all distorted. Also, I am stuck using my front headphone jack because if I use the back one, it sounds fine, but there is a constant hissing noise. (very annoying too).

What I find strange is that if I'm gaming, the distortion problem goes away and audio sounds fine, but the second I close the game, the problem comes right back.

Interestingly enough, the hissing from the back audio jack doesn't start until it gets to the please wait screen before the login screen. (leading me to believe this is software related)

Is there a way to fix this or am I going to have to break the bank and buy a sound card. I have tried reinstalling the drivers, but it didn't work.

    Hi abbyconnorbomb,

What is the brand and model of your PC / Laptop?

    Disable Audio Enhancement

To fix your sound stuttering problem, please perform:

    1. On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key + R at the same time. Type in mmsys.cpl and press Enter.
    2. Right-click your default playback device (the one with a green tick) and click Properties.
    3. Click Enhancement. Make sure the box for Disable all enhancements is empty. Click Apply and OK to save.

If you do not have an Enhancement tab here, the culprit is not enhancement then. Move on to methods below for more help.

    Change Audio Formats

If your audio driver or software does not support the current audio format you have, sound issues such as static or stuttering would happen. To fix it, you can try different audio formats:

    1. On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and R at the same time. Type in mmsys.cpl and press Enter.
    2. Right-click your default playback device (the one with a green tick) and click Properties.
    3. Click Advanced tab. Select 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality). Click Apply and OK to save the changes.
    4. Test to see if your sound is still stuttering. If yes, go back to step 3 and try some other formats until you find the one works for you.

If your audio problem remains, move on to method 3 for more help.

    Update Audio Driver

Go to the manufacturer's website on your PC and update the drivers

Also, I share with you a amazing article about most commons issues with these devices:

My computer is a dell, and It has Realtek audio built into the motherboard. I never had audio enhancements enabled in the first place, and I have fiddled around with the audio quality, it seems the only one that works half decent is 24 bit 192000 hz studio quality. I say half decent because it is fading out the bass, which makes listening to music horrible.

I have attempted to update the driver, no updates were available. I tried a driver reinstall, it said no. (as in it didn't fix it) At this point I'd rather save myself the time and stress and just go buy a sound card off amazon. (I found one that will do what I need it to do for 20 bucks) If the sound card wasn't built into the motherboard, I would replace it.

1: I have already tried that

2: the sound card is built into the motherboard

3: All of my audio cables are connected properly.

    Hello,

I'm Samuel, I'm a Microsoft expert. I will help you in this case today.

    you try these options:

    one

Use the problem solver. Computers come with a built-in problem solver that can help you fix the volume problem. Click on the Start bar in the lower left part of the screen. Click on "Control Panel", then on "Troubleshooting" and finally on "Hardware and Sound". Now choose the option "Audio playback". Your computer will ask you a series of questions that will help you determine the cause of the sound problem. In most cases, sound problems can be solved with this troubleshooting tool that comes with Windows.

    two

Check the sound card. The sound card is a device that you must install on your Windows computer so that it can play sound. If the volume does not work, check the sound card to make sure your device has a sound card and that it is installed correctly.

Go to the search bar at the bottom right of your computer screen. Type "Device Manager" in the search bar. Now you must open the "Device Manager" and you can use it to check your sound card.

From there, click on "Sound and video controllers, and game devices." If you have a card installed, it will appear in the list. The volume problem is due to another reason. If no sound card appears, you may need to buy and install your own card. Surely you can find the necessary steps to install it in the instructions of the manufacturer of the device.

    3

Check the cables. Check the cables that connect the speakers, headphones, microphones and other devices to your computer or laptop. It is quite common to move or loosen the cables when using the computer. If the cable has been disconnected, then that is probably the cause of the problem with the volume. Reinsert the loose cables and check if the volume of the computer has improved now.

If you have any other questions, feel free to write again. Thank you!

I sincerely hope I have been useful.

    Sincerely,

    Samuel jean
