How do I make Windows Media Player automatically start playing my DVD's

There is a favorite TV series of mine that I have an entire season of on DVD. I just slap one of the discs in the DVD drive and Windows Media Player automatically starts playing it. Earlier today, I installed another media player on my PC. I kept Windows Media player, I just wanted to have more than one because sometimes I have trouble getting Windows Media Player to start (this could be a problem with the discs or the drive, as well). Anyway, when I double clicked on the DVD drive in My Computer, I received a dialogue box that says "*this file does not have a program associated with it....".*How do I get Windows Media Player to automatically start playing my DVD's again when I insert them in the DVD drive. I can't tell what the file types are by looking at the DVD using My Computer. I have uninstalled the other media player to no avail. I can go into Windows Media Player program and select the DVD drive and get it to start that way but I can't seem to get the DVD to automatically start playing now.

There are various ways to accomplish what you want, but see if this works for you:

    1. Click Start, type autoplay in the Search box, and press Enter
    2. Next to the appropriate device or media type (see screenshot below), click the drop-down menu and select the action you want to happen as the default (see the second screenshot below, although you likely will not have the same selection of options).
    3. There are more media types and devices as you scroll down the window
    4. After you've made your selections, click the Save button and close the window (if it doesn't close automatically)
