I have a laptop with a MS office 2016 preinstalled, I have been using its free trial for a month, now the trial period is over and I have decided to uninstall it. Since MS office 2016 isnt in the control panel's list, what i did is to uninstall it manually by right clicking it on each app on the start menu and uninstalling, my concern is, I already uninstalled all the office apps (word, powerpoint, outlook, one note, one drive, publisher, access) but the excel 2016 has not removed from the applist eventhough I already uninstalled it. I tried to use the official office uninstaller from Microsoft but still it cannot remove the Excel 2016 app icon, Is there a way on how can i remove that icon, please help

    Hi Averen,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Apologize for the difficulties that you're experiencing with Windows 10. Do not worry. We'll be glad to help you in resolving this issue.

What happens when you click on the Excel 2016 App icon?

Try Removing Apps From The All Apps List by following the below steps.

Step 1: Right-click on Excel 2016 from All Apps List > Click on More > Open file location.

Step 2: After clicking Open file location, a new File Explorer window will appear showing you the application shortcut, so you may want to delete that shortcut, restart the computer once, and check for the issue.

Alternatively, you may also press the Windows and R keys > Type or copy/paste the following command and hit Enter.

    %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

Then, look for Excel 2016 shortcut and delete it. Once deleted, restart the computer once, and check for the issue.

If you are still facing the same issue, I would suggest you to post a Screenshot of the Apps list, where you are seeing the Excel shortcut.

Give it a shot and let us know of any changes.

Hello sir, I truly appreciated your response. Thank you so much, by the way, I have tried those mentioned workaround, however I still cannot  remove the icon, whenever I right click the app icon, there is no option to "Open File Location", I tried to choose uninstall, but it does not remove the icon, Please help me, Im begging you sir, I hope you could help me with this.

Try Pressing Windows key+R and typing “C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\StartMenu\Programs”.

And search through the folders for Excel, and delete it

if you find it. Then restart the PC

    Hi Averen,

    Thank you for replying.

Try deleting the application shortcut by going to C:\Users\Username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Application Shortcuts and search for Excel in the Search Bar and delete the Excel shortcut. Once you delete the shortcut, restart the computer once, and check for the issue.

Give it a shot and let us know of any changes.

    Hope it helps.

When I open the said path, there are no application shortcuts in the said folder, I wonder if the issue is somewhat related to its registries
