White box appearing on screen on Windows 10

I operate a Microsoft Surface Windows 10 device.  Recently, a small white box appears just off centre of the middle of the screen.  Nothing happens when clicking on the box.  It sits on top of all open applications.

Any ideas on what maybe causing this problem, and how to fix the issue?  At the moment a reboot is required to fix the problem.

Hi RP, I am Dexter, an Independent Advisor, here to help you.

I'll suggest you check the autorun programs from the task manager, disable those programs which is unnecessary or you don't know what use for. then restart your Windows, and see if it still exists.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let me know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

    Hello,

Try to boot into Safe Mode: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode

If issue is not present in Safe Mode, boot to normal mode and update all of your drivers, especially your display driver to latest version.

If issue still persists, perform clean boot: https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

Using clean boot, you can identify third-party program causing this issue and hence remove it.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi RP,

I'm Stefano an Independent Advisor, here to help you.

I would suggest you to perform a clean boot:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929135...

If once rebooted the box is still there, please follow this instructions:

    1. Type "cmd" in windows search bar
    2. Right click on "Command Prompt"
    3. Select "Run as Administrator"
    4. Type "sfc /scannow" without quote and press ENTER

    Then :

    1. Type "cmd" in windows search bar
    2. Right click on "Command Prompt"
    3. Select "Run as Administrator"
    4. Type "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth" without quote and press ENTER
    5. Type "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth" without quote and press ENTER
    6. Type "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" without quote and press ENTER

At the end, perform a complete scan with Windows Defender.

Please let me know if that fix your issue.
