Still no luck with the touchpad. If anybody else with this problem has found a fix, please let me know.
Laptop Touchpad Problems: Windows 10 Lenovo Yoga 730
Hi,
So I bought my Lenovo laptop (a Yoga 730) back around July/August of last year, and for the first few months everything was working beautifully. However, since the beginning of December, the touchpad on my Yoga began to stop working and get a little wonky. At first, the mouse touchpad would simply not move the cursor on the screen only when the laptop had been opened after being in sleep/standby mode. I would simply restart the machine, and the mouse cursor would begin to work normally again and register my use of the touchpad.
Over time, though, I would be using the laptop even after booting it up pressing the power button and the touchpad would not work. Pressing the F6 touchpad button after turning it off and on again would only sometimes be successful. Now, the touchpad has completely ceased to function and restarting, turning it off and on, or pressing F6 have all failed to fix the issue. I have had to use an external mouse for the past few weeks as a result of this.
I would also like to note that I have tried mostly every fix option suggested online, from going to mouse settings from the settings app and making sure the touchpad is enabled in properties, to going to device manager and outright uninstalling the mouse driver for the touchpad and then reinstalling it after restarting the laptop. Nothing has worked so far. I have also tried numerous times to update the touch pad mouse drivers, however every single time the laptop scans for new updates it tells me that the best software has already been installed for it. Looking at the touchpad physically, nothing has happened that would compromise its functionability; I have not dropped the laptop or spilled any liquids on it at all, much less the touchpad region of the laptop.
I am at a loss at this point for what the issue may be and would appreciate any insight from the community here.
If it helps, I have provided the basic information of my specific laptop:
Device ID: FAA28ADD-40CA-4EF7-8924-7FCB7BF18812

2019-01-29T00:03:31+00:00 I have a Lenovo Yoga 730 (15-inch model) with 8 GB RAM and i5 8th gen processor. Bought my laptop in mid-August, and encountering the same problem since December. It's extremely frustrating, and I have tried every trick in the book, but when it chooses to not work, there is nothing you can do. My trackpad freezes in the middle of the class and you look like a fool, trying to use an external mouse on the limited desk space available. Lenovo has done an extremely shoddy job in making these drivers. Never ever buying Lenovo again.

2019-01-31T19:10:37+00:00 Hello again, Suman
I'm not sure if you read my previous response entirely, but I already tried the solutions you offered quite some time ago. I have also restarted my laptop multiple times after making these changes in the mouse settings from both device manager and the control panel, all to no avail.
Again, I think the issue has something to do with that flagged device under human interface devices or something in the device manager. It is the only item there with an error. If you could provide some insight into that, it may be the answer I need to solve this annoying issue.

Hi Suman,
First of all I appreciate you trying to help me out with this issue. It's a very odd one as it started happening rather abruptly.
Unfortunately, I tried all of your methods (sort of, will get into the details shortly) and none of them fixed my touchpad.
Before I get into what I did with your provided methods, I'll also go ahead and answer your first two questions about my laptop:
- No, I am not aware of (or at least have not noticed) any major changes to my laptop prior to this malfunction with the touchpad. It started one day and got progressively worse to the point where nothing I do fixes mouse functionality at all. Windows update at the time was still staying that my system was all up to date.
- I am using Windows 10 on this device, which it already came with at the time of purchase. Let me know if that is not what you are asking. I just assumed so.
Now, for the methods:
For method 1, windows update was one of the first places I went to try and fix the issue. I checked for updates multiple times even after rebooting my Yoga and nothing changed with the touchpad.
For method 2, I got to device manager and selected show hidden devices. I then checked for any items listed as unknown under universal serial controllers. I found nothing with that name. When continuing with your instructions, I could not, however find my USB 2 keyboard driver device (checked under universal serial controllers). All I had under that label was a couple USB composite devices, a USB root hub (USB 3.0), and an Intel (R) USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.0 (Microsoft). Because of this, I could not continue with the rest of this method.
I had heard of trying Lenovo Vantage updates in the past. I tried it this time and the updates did not fix the problem either. Method 3 did not work.
For method 4, I had already tried in the past to update the mouse drivers in device manager, and again, nothing changed.
With all of that mentioned, I think it might also be worth noting that under Human Interface devices in device manager, there is an item listed as I2C HIID twice (there are two of them), and one of them had an exclamation icon next to it. I looked at the properties of that one, and it said in the general tab under device status:
This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)
If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.
I looked up this error code online and tried the fix methods suggested, from uninstalling that specific item to trying to update it, and neither have worked. I am not sure whether this is the culprit behind my touchpad problem, but I am relatively confident that it very well could be. I was wondering if you could provide any insight into whether this is related to my touchpad malfunction and if so, how to resolve it.
