Cursor having a seizure

My cursor moves erratically in a seizure like way across the screen of my laptop. This occurs even if I remove my hands well away from the keyboard and the touch pad.  I cannot move or control the cursor. Am using an Acer Aspire S5-371T laptop and Windows 10. Advice welcome!!

Is your mouse cursor from an optical mouse or from the touch pad? Usually this is linked to the driver, it your mouse setting. If the former, check if there are updates to the driver. You can go to the mouse settings and choose a slower response rate for the mouse.
