How long does a Windows 10 clean install take to run on a new SSD?

I installed a new Samsung EVO 860 500gb SSD and am trying to do a clean install of Win 10 Pro on my Dell XPS laptop. It is stuck on the 'Where do you want to install Windows' screen. I tried using the Unallocated space partition. The Win 10 setup program gives no progress or feedback on where it is.

How long should I wait before I cancel and restart?

Should I have my network cable attached during the initial install or attach later for activation and updates?

I am using a USB 3 drive for the install media, created from Microsoft site.

    Hi Doug

When you click Next on that unallocated space, the installation routine should immediately start to download the installation files. In total from start to finish, from a USB 3.0 flash drive to an SSD, you are probably talking around 15 - 20 minutes for completion of installation . . .

    Hello Doug,

Depending on your hardware, it can usually take around 20-30 minutes to perform a clean install without any issues and be on the desktop.

The method in the tutorial below is what I use to clean install Windows 10 with UEFI.

    Hi,
You need to create a new partition on the unallocated space. Click New below the box to create a partition and select that to install.

Windows would show you the progress of Installation of everything. My device having Kingston SSD takes 30 minutes to get to the desktop for a clean install. Other factors like RAM and hardware apply.
