    Hi Elizaah,

I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 2-Year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

Press Windows+E key on your keyboard to Open File explorer.

Locate the CD/DVD drive and Right click it.

    Choose Autoplay.

If you are presented a list of options, select Play Media using Movies app/any 3rd party player like VLC.

Let us know how that goes.

VLC does not respond!!  This is frustrating.  I purchased a DVD and all I want to do is watch it.  Why should I have to pay to watch a movie I purchased. My HP internal drive never worked and had to purchase an external drive to watch videos, but now it won't work to watch a DVD.  I am ready to kidnap my mac from work so that I can watch a movie. Grrrrrrrrr.

    Hi Elizaah,

I am Vijay, an Independent Advisor. I am here to work with you on this problem.

It is better to use VLC Media Player which has all the codecs required and will play all the audio and video files.

    To download VLC - https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

Do let me know if you require any further help on this. Will be glad to help you.

Hi. Thanks for this: I've followed your guidance and tracked down the CD/DVD drive and  although it didn't give me the option to autoplay , I selected Open and it's playing the CD now.

Many thanks again... I might be back :<)
