Windows 10 CD/DVD Drive not recognized; internal or external

I know this is an old  and seriously aggrivating problem but the comments are locked and I have not been able to resolve.

I did the

reg.exe add "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi\Controller0" /f /v EnumDevice1 /t REG_DWORD /d 0x00000001

thing and that did not work. I also downloaded the DVD software for trial - not paying for it until I can check it out.

It did nothing either.

My PC has an internal CD drive and I purchased an external CD/DVD drive.   Neither one is accessible.

How can I get this fixed?

    Hi.

    I don't know what NTI is or where it might have come from..  I can't find any reference to it on the machine.

    I went to Gearsoft and downloaded the updated drivers.

    I went to Microsoft and downloaded the dvd player software

    Rebooted.

    Nothing.  Neither internal nor external dvd players are recognized.

    any other ideas?

    LowerFilters  UBHelper

    NoInstallClass 1

    SilentInstall  1

    UpperFilters  NTIDrvr GEARAspiWDM

    and there is another one that has

    Try removing the UBHelper and NTIDrvr values:

    To remove the UBHelper entry double-click LowerFilters and, under Value data, remove UBHelper > OK

    To remove the NTIDrvr entry double-click UpperFilters and, under Value data, remove NTIDrvr > OK

    Create a system restore point beforehand and restart the computer after.

    For optical drives (your internal and external CD/DVD Drives) only be concerned with the following registry key :

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    On your system at that registry key there are three values where one or more of the three could be problematic.

    I believe UBHelper and NTIDrvr are from NTI software.

    Have you now any NTI software installed or have recently uninstalled NTI software?

    If so, which software and which version?

    The GEARAspiWDM may be related to iTunes so can you install the latest version of Gear drivers (4.021.1) and see if it helps :

    Hi TOGAL,

    Can you check the following registry key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    At that registry key, in the right window, is there, under "Name", either an UpperFilters or LowerFilters value?

    If so, for each of the UpperFilters and/or LowerFilters value, what is listed under "Data"?
