Whenever I visit portal.azure.com I get redirected to the page of a former client of ours. As I do not have rights in that organization (it's a completely different company) I cannot continue to the portal and "change directories". If I do some stuff via azure CLI I can access some of the things I want as I can pass a tenant ID to some commands.
How can I change this? Maybe something can be done via the Azure CLI to change the "standard" tenant?

Is it just me or is this a bit of a joke. azure portal automatically redirects me to the portal for a previous client. Tried every browser, clear cache, incognito and the same result. I received a Welcome message with no Tenant/Subscription ID . Absolutely nothing but providing my credit card details wasn't a prob.

Try the target tenant ID n the url. This worked for me.
https://portal.azure.com/@*[your Tenantname]*.onmicrosoft.com

Catch-22. What is [your tenantname]? Why you just need to either 1. Remember what "Tenant name" was set to the last time you were logged in. Along with the 10,000 other Azure settings you wrote down or remember in your account. 2. Login and find out.
Also @[your Tenantname].onmicrosoft.com might be @yourcustomdomain Like yourbusiness.com Not necessarily onmicrosoft.com
This whole mess started because I was playing around and testing Azure Directory and added my email to a test AD. Unbelievable waste of time and nerves! I wasn't able to login to the main Azure portal for 2 days. I am not sure why Microsoft allows you to have an email registered in two different AD's.
Yes, this approach works, infact you can open Azure poral using any Tenant name e.g. https://portal.azure.com/[@](/users/na/?userId=16313079-4001-0003-0000-000000000000).onmicrosoft.com after login open "Directories + subscriptions" from the open menu icons where you can see all you Domain attached with use name you tried to login. Click the switch button with the correct subscription.

These instructionis got me in, then I was able to reset the startup option in the portal settings

i am facing similar issue, when i am trying to login my personal account mah...m..al@Microsoft Corporation .com it is taking to me to organisation page same time it is showing i am connected to one more directory.
i have nothing to do TATA Communications directory and i am not related at all.

Unfortunatenly there is no "between" for steps 1 to 4 in my case. If I go to protal.azure.com I get redirected to the clients login page already "logged in" stating that I have no permissions. I cannot enter portal.azure.com for any tenant as a result, not even my own company's tenant id.
A small breakthrough with the login link you sent. I am not at https://myaccount.microsoft.com/organizations where I tried "leaving this organization" but I do not have the rights to leave the organization. I think if I can leave the organization the auto-redirect must be gone. Can you help me with that?

Hi @Dennis Stander · This is because of SSO, which might be happening due to PRT. Could you please try using In-private/incognito browser session. If that doesn't help, try using different device.

Is there a version of https://myaccount.microsoft.com/organizations for personal accounts? It doesn't accept hotmail -account.
I had a similar issue where this was resulting in the Azure portal sign in kicking me out of my "work profile" edge browser and logging me into my personal one. The solution was to go into the settings of the work profile version of edge, then go to Profiles -> Profile preferences, and remove the Azure portal redirect under the "Profile preferences for sites".
