I can't set the resolution to 2560x1080 on my LG 29UM58-P ultrawide monitor

Grapich card: AMD FirePro 2100  Driver version: 25.20.15012.12  Driver date: 2019-01-08

Monitor: LG 29UM58-P ultrawide  Driver version: 1.0.0.0 Driver date: 2015-08-26  with DP to HDMI adapter

OS: Win 10

Altough I tried updating all the drivers I can't set the resolution to 2560x1080 because there is no such an option at the display settings.

When I'm trying to update the driver of the monitor by clicking on the Update driver button at the monitor properties it says "The best drivers for your device are already installed". I saw that there is some new drivers at the support page of LG for this monitor, i've tried them all but when I run setup it does nothing but shows a popup with one line: "Driver installation success". No progress bar no nothing. And when I check again the driver of the monitor at the monitor properties I see that the driver is still 1.0.0.0. It does not get updated.

It just works fine on Ubuntu, without any settings required...

    Hi,

When I set the refresh rate to 30 Hertz, Interlaced the screen stretches but I still can't set the correct resolution in the Radeon settings nor in Windows settings. I get the same error message from radeon settings: "The custom resolution settings are not compatible..." and I also get an error message from the monitor.

I think this issue is simply the consequence of unlucky star allignment...

    Hi,

    Thank you for replying.

You can try to change the refresh rate of the monitor and check if able to set the desired resolution.

    Follow the steps:

    1.    Open Settings>System>Display.

    2.    Click on Advanced display settings.

    3.    Click on Display adapter properties for Display option.

    4.    On the popup window, select Monitor tab.

    5.    Under the section Monitor Settings, click on the dropdown option and select the refresh rate.

    6.    Click on Apply and OK.

    For AMD:

    1.    Right click on the desktop and select Radeon settings option.

    2.    Select Display and click on Create next to Custom resolution.

    3.    Edit the refresh rate which is supported by Monitor. (Try 50, 45, 30 Hz)

    4.    Click on Apply and OK.

Once done, try to follow the above post and check if you are able to increase the resolution.

Make sure that you have DisplayPort 1.1 as per recommended by AMD FirePro™ W2100 Professional Graphics Cards.

    We await your response.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

In regards to your concern, please help me with the following questions:

    1.    What is the make and model of the computer?

    2.    Were you able to set the resolution on the computer prior to the issue?

It could be possible that the graphics drivers are causing the computer to be incompatible with 2560x1080 resolution.

You can try to uninstall the AMD FirePro drivers directly from the device manager and then install it from the AMD’s website. Check if that helps.

    Follow the steps:

    1. Type Device manager in Windows search bar and press Enter.

    2. Expand the node for Display adapters.

    3. Right click on the AMD driver and click on Uninstall.

    4. On the Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click the Delete the driver software for this device option.

    5. Click OK to start the uninstall process.

    6. Download the latest drivers fromFirePro™ W2100 Drivers & Support

    7. Run to install the downloaded latest driver.

Restart the computer and check in the display settings, if you are able to set the resolution 2560x1080.

Please get back to us with the results.
