Compatibility problem with Paperport Version 14 in Windows 10

I recently loaded the program "Paperport 14" from Nuance. I had no problem loading it but when I tried to open the program it gave me an error dialog box saying I need to change the compatibility mode to function properly. I went to the properties area for the program and if I try to change the compatibility to an earlier version of Windows it does not accept it and the problem continues. I took a screenshot of the dialog box but it will not paste to this box. Please send me information to correct this error so that I may use the program. Thank you.

    Hi again,

You can turn off compatibility mode by these steps.

    1. Navigate to the icon for the application on your Desktop or within a Folder and Right-click it.
    2. Look at the bottom of the pop-up menu that appears and select "Properties"
    3. In the properties dialogue select the tab labeled "Compatibility" (see the picture I attached)
    4. Make sure the area I have highlighted in the picture is NOT check marked, you might have to uncheck it.
    5. Click "apply" then "okay" at the bottom.
    6. Now try running Paperport 14.5.

Hello my name is Bradford and I'm an Independent Advisor for the Microsoft Community and I will try to resolve your problem with your Paperport 14 installation.

According to what I've seen on the internet the only compatible version of Paperport with Windows 10 is Paperport 14.5 with patch 1. Which means the Paperport version you're using might need to be updated.

Below is a link to a tutorial page where you find the link to download the updated Paperport 14.5 already patched and step by step instructions on installation, uninstalling, and troubleshooting. After noting the disclaimer please proceed to the site and follow its instructions.

I apologize but the steps are too long and too complex to paste here.

    Hi LawrenceWheatley

I am Vijay, an Independent Advisor. I am here to work with you on this problem.

As per Nuance website, Paperport 14 is compatible with Windows 10.

Can right click on the icon of Paperport 14 and Run As Administrator?

Go through following Microsoft help - Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15078/...

Do let me know if you require any further help on this. Will be glad to help you.

Thank you for your reply. I got the latest version of Paperport from Nuance yesterday. You are correct, it is version 14.5 with patch 1. That is what I am using but it does not work. I shows that it seems to be stuck in compatibility mode for Windows XP. I tried to change the compatibility to another version of Windows but it will not allow any changes. What else can I do?
