I was having the same issue. It's a simple setting problem. I will tell you what I did to fix it.

Press Windows Key+G (this will open gamebar) > click on the small settings icon located on the top right of the gamebar window>scroll down to to bottom and select ALL instead of GAME ONLY option.

And now play your game and talk in discord with your friends and it will record.

Hope this helped you. Do let me know if it did.

    Hi,

Thanks for the info, I tried this method, and it does pick up my friends voice but it ended up not picking my voice in return, how do I fix that ?

I tried using the listen to my voice setting but its really annoying to be having to listen to my own voice when recording

I had the same issue, and I realized that Windows Game Bar was automatically *muting* my mic when I clicked the record button (I could see a slash through the mic button icon). The solution was to click the record button, let Windows Game Bar automatically mute my mic, and then click the mic button to unmute it.

Your solution works and thank you.

However, the default state of the microphone does not have a SLASH through it.

    Steps:

Record (Win-R), Microphone is shown as active (No Slash) and does not record my voice (not as expected)

Click the microphone icon - (slash added) and does not record my voice as expected

Click the microphone icon - (slash removed) and records my voice as expected

it is all games and I have made sure the mic is on but that doesn't help. all that does is pick up my voice mot my friends. I am using discord and it is not picking up any audio from discord. it does not matter the game or anything the problem is not recording audio from discord.

I also tried hitting all, and it isn't getting my own audio either, just my friend's.

Others have reported the same problem, but no solution

NOTE:  I have rebooted, reinstalled drivers, and updated my bios

I think the real question is:

Using the Game DVR, how can I record my microphone and all other sounds?

NOTE:  Checking the microphone and not checking Record game audio only does NOT work as you would expect.
