Need an Audible book player - OFFLINE mode

I knew that the place I was moving to did not have internet so I downloaded a bunch of my Audible books thinking I could listen to them on my Windows 10 desktop.

I can find no program that will play them and no help from Audible as they say to use iTunes or the cloud reader.

I don't have a Mac and iTunes showed the Microsoft Store for Windows apps.

But the app won't let me download it on my laptop. It wants to install only and my laptop is windows 8 and is not compatible. I can't afford to upgrade this and I think it is too old to handle Windows 10 anyway.

Why is there no option to download only?

Can someone point me to a free program that will play my already downloaded books - without internet?

    Hi SigBrown ,

My name is Lucia. I am an Independent Advisor. Thanks for contacting us.

I offer you as a recommendation the following application that you could obtain from the Microsoft Store, completely free, also compatible with your Operating System.

    Audiobook Player

Audiobook Player enables you to play audio books on your Windows device.

The App is optimized to play many small audio files in one folder and saving the playback position of all your book.

Audiobooks can be played from your local device, removable devices or OneDrive.

please let me know if you have any problems with downloading the program I installed the program.

I wish I could have helped you

    Regards

I tried to "add device" since my laptop isn't listed but it only gives me an option of adding a Windows 10 PC or Microsoft hardware. This is a Windows 8 Dell hybrid laptop/tablet with touch screen.

I tried that one and got the same message:

Where do you want to install?

It looks like you don’t have any applicable device(s) linked to your Microsoft account. To install, sign in on a device with your Microsoft account.

    Any other suggestions?
