I need instructions on how to create a label template document (like Avery 8164) using Word in Windows 10?  The usual guidelines do not seem to be working for me.

    Hi Elaine

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

Which version of Microsoft Word are you using?

Please note, if you are using the built in word processor in Windows 10: WordPad or Notepad, you can't use it to save templates.

You need to use Microsoft Word which is included with Office or Office 365.

I use Windows 365 and was able to make an Avery template document.   I have the additional problem now of trying to figure out how to put it into my Dropbox.    The documents I created before I had the Dropbox are all in there, but newly created ones cannot be moved over.  They remain in a documents folder.

I do want to thank you for responding to my original message.   Your answer was helpful.
