I just did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro on my desktop.  I put in a new SSD "C" drive.  I have two laptops with Windows 10 Home on them.  Can I use my new full version of windows 10 Pro that I bought for my desktop to upgrade my two desktops or do I need to buy a new copy of Windows 10 Pro for each  laptop?

    Hi greypilot

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

You can only install it on one computer. If you need to upgrade an additional computer to Windows 10 Pro, you need an additional license.

Open Start > Settings > Update & security > Activation

Click the link ˜Go to the store to upgrade or enter a product key

Click the $99 button to make your purchase (the price might vary by region or depending on the edition you are upgrading from or upgrading to).

Follow the on screen instructions to make your purchase.

Within 5 to 10 minutes, your system will be upgraded to Windows 10 Pro, your personal files, apps and settings preserved.

You won't get a product key, you get a digital license, which is attached to your Microsoft Account used to make the purchase.

    Hi greypilot

I am sorry, the consumer versions of Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro are a one licence, one PC Deal. So you can only install on one PC at a time. However, because you have purchased Windows 10 Pro, if and when the need arises, in the future, you can transfer that licence to a new PC or motherboard . . .

No. The rule is quite clear. It's one copy (or one license) for each computer.

There's nothing new here. This is exactly the same rule that's been in effect on every version of Windows starting at least with Windows 3.1.

The only exception is Enterprise versions, but they only make economic sense if you have a lot of computers.

Does it mean, if I have a windows 10 pro license then I can buy another license in cost of 99 USD?

    Hello,

A digital licence is linked to one pc.

So it is very simple : you need a licence for every computer.
