usb drive has corrupted file on it and i can't fix it

So I'm trying to mod my Wii, and a USB drive is part of the process. I put an ISO for a Wii game on it to try and play it, not knowing it was corrupted. So now the USB drive is pretty much irreparable. I can't use CMD Prompt to check disk, because "The type of the file system is RAW. CHKDSK is not available for RAW drives." and if I try to format it, it disconnects and the format is unsuccessful. Also, if I try to go to properties and then tools, then check it, it says I need to format it, which I can't. Help please.

Hi Blox. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP here to help you.

Access the Command Prompt to run Disk Check on the drive:

https://www.groovypost.com/howto/check-hard-dri...

If it won't run or help then run DIskpart Clean All command to wipe the drive:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/52129-disk...

Then see if you can reformat in Disk Mgmt:

http://www.wikihow.com/Format-an-External-Hard-...

If it won't repair then replace it.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

You can try Hiren's BootCD PE. It' s has a lot of recovery tools and free to use.

To run this, you must burn it into a USB and Boot from it by design.

    This is the link

    https://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/

Please note that Recovery tools can't promise anything but just a to make one more chance.

    Hope it can help you

    Best Regards,

    Anthony

    Hi bloxofhope

My name is Andre Da Costa; an Independent Consultant, Windows Insider MVP and Windows & Devices for IT MVP. I'm here to help you with your problem.

Could you try using Disk Part to format it the drive?

    https://www.groovypost.com/howto/format-local-d...

Information in the above link is sourced from a trusted Microsoft MVP blog.

If you have access to a computer running Linux or macOS, you can connect it to that computer then try format.
