Windows 10 not detecting my iPhone X via USB?

I cannot get my computer (using Windows 10) to detect my iPhone X. When I plug in my phone via USB (I've tried both ports), it identifies my phone as a "3D Video Controller" rather than an Apple Mobile Device. I looked into downloading an Apple Mobile USB Driver but cannot find one anywhere. Apple forums take you to the same link (which does not help).

When I plug in my phone, all the computer does is charge the phone. I chatted with Microsoft tech and he tried to tell me that it's Apple's problem. However, it doesn't explain why my computer is detecting my phone as a video controller. Any help???

My phone is updated to the latest iOS. Windows is also updated. I have also downloaded the latest version of iTunes (which cannot detect my phone, obviously). Would appreciate your suggestions please!

Hi Carolyn. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP here to help you.

See here for problems importing pictures to PC from iPhone:

What also works is to install iCloud so that the pictures are transferred seamlessly in the background from Phone to PC:

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post helped you, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

    Hi CarolynTM ,

My name is Ana. I am an Independent Advisor. Thanks for contacting our support.

When you connect the iPhone to the PC, keep it with the screen unlocked, you must request it by means of a notification to allow access to the PC, to your files.

After this then verify in the Windows Explorer if the phone is recognized and you can see the photos and then open Itunes and you will see that it recognizes.

I share the following link that will help you.

I wish I could have helped you, let me know any questions.

    Regards

Go to the Device Manager and check if there is a controller with a yellow triangle signal, if so, then right click on it and press update.

let me know if I help

    Hi Ana,

Thanks for your reply! My phone is already set to trust my computer so I don’t receive that pop-up anymore. However my computer is detecting my iphone as a video controller, instead of a phone.

Is there a driver I need to download?

    -C
