Audio driver and MaxxAudio Pro are not working

Hello! I'm using Dell G7 7588 and have just re-installed the Windows 10 1809.

I have installed all necessary drivers from Dell support site but then my audio doesn't work. Maxx Audio when launches say "Audio driver is not up to date, please check for windows update". Intel Smart Sound Technology's also not working.

My temporary solution: Right click to Intel Smart Sound, choose Update drivers -> Browse -> Let me pick... -> High Definition Audio controller (like this guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szAy9rDRuzo). The intel Smart Sound are replaced by High Definiation Audio Controller. My audio works, but when I plug the microphone, the MaxxAudio says the same thing (audio driver is not up to date) my computer still plays audio by the speaker, not microphone. I have updated the latest BIOS, latest firmware.

Dell Update utility says it's up to date.

Thank you!

The microphone (it's actually a headphone, I use wrong word !) issue is caused by MaxxAudio, when I run Maxx audio, it says "Audio driver is not up-to-date..." as the photo on my first post. I can guess it didn't recognize Dell Realtek audio as a correct driver, so it requires me to check for windows update. My windows update gives nothing about it. So I go to Microsoft Catalog to download the Microsoft Realtek driver and install it myself. Restart and now Maxx Audio works and allow my headphone to work.

I have installed the latest Realtek driver from Microsoft catalog: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=6.0.1.8627

No MaxxAudio works and everything is fine.

It seems a problem of Dell drivers because Maxx Audio requires latest drivers from Windows update.

I hope my post will be useful for other users.

There is this error in the Event Logs:

Source IntcOED - The description for Event ID 545 from source IntcOED cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

That seems to indicate an issue with the Intel Smart Sound Technology driver in that there is a corruption of the driver or a mismatch in the driver such as reported in the following link (the dates on the two drivers in your case do not match):

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/for...

You do not appear to have the option to roll back the driver but if so you could try reinstalling the driver via the Device Manager.

Right-click the Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) Audio Controller > Uninstall device and then , if given the choice, also select "Delete the driver software for this device"

Continue with the uninstall and restart the computer and let Windows reinstall the device and driver.

The Intel Smart Audio is not related to the Realtek Audio which handles your playback devices and installs Maxx Audio..

That audio just started showing up a few months ago and seems to be related to Cortana.  The version of the Realtek Audio you should show in the sound section is 6.0.1.8619.  I do not know why they show a separate install for Waves but you might hold off on that to see what happens with just the Realtek Audio driver.
