So out of nowhere typing in "this PC" has brought up the name "computer (1)

Anyone know why this is and what I can do to revert it back?

    I solved this problem this way:

    • somehow I found this folder where all the shortcurts are (attention to YOUR_USERNAME):

    C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

    • there were several shortcuts there; this (1) refers to a redundance;
    • eliminate the (1), (2), etc., shortcuts, right-click the correct one and choose Pin to Start

    Same thing here after updating to Win10 v1809.

    Snips attached.  On the desktop and in Explorer windows it displays correctly as "This PC" but on the Start menu it says "computer (1)".  File Explorer has also been renamed to "File Explorer (1)".

    Hello Luke.

    I would like to ask some questions before:

    • Check last installed updates. Do you have any for affected time?
    • Does anyone else have an access to your device?
    • Did you installed any 3rd party software on your device before getting the error?
    • Check, do you have any restore points, which you can use to rollback your system at the time before the issue appeared.

    To illustrate your problem, please use snippingtool.exe to create a snapshot of this error message. Save the snapshot to your desktop, then attach it to your reply.
