Windows 10 Mail: drag emails to folders

After reading my emails in my 2 accounts (personal and work) I like to select according to subject and then drag and drop into folders, which, in earlier Outlook & running Win7 were in a column on the left, visible and always available. This keeps groups of similar emails useful for retrieving & searching.  This was easy in earlier MS programs like Outlook.  How can I organize windows 10 mail for the same drag and drop simplicity?

    Hi Nigel

Your screenshot did not come through.

Unfortunately, Windows Mail is not as full featured as the Outlook client you describe.

You are probably best off using an alternative client such as the free Mozilla Thunderbird:

I would also recommend you submit a feature request; send me the short link so I can vote on it and bring it to the attention of the Windows engineers.

    Thanks Andre

My problem is this. in Windows 7 using Outlook, my mail looks like  the snip below. In it i can easily do various uselful things like (1) Sort the emails by Sender (or have recent emails on the bottom which I prefer). (2) I can choose and add different fields (eg  'To' ) as headers for columns in the display of inbox emails or any folder. I can also (3) select a bunch of emails, say those from  a particular person, like Timothy  By... in the image below, highlight and drag and drop them onto a folder, in fact (4) to Folders in my Other account, or my Personal Archive - which I can make visible in the left hand column with a click. AND (5) they stay visible

In the mail program that comes with Windows 10 I don't  seem able to do any of this. I assume that there are options to set it up up to do these simple things,  but perhaps are hidden in some menu/setting? The new Win 10 Mail system cannot surely be this dysfunctional and difficult to manage. Yet  I have been through the settings, help, various online  sites and find nothing to help.

I wanted to show you how, in Windows 10 Mail. and the Folders and emails showing on the same page, I could not highlight, drag and drop an email, but even that seems difficult:  the moment i touch the Snipping Tool to take a snip shot, the Folders colum disappeasr and the page shows only the emails!

I must surely be missing something here. Is there a tutorial? Can I get an old Outlook style interface? Can I get some alternative email system that works with Win10?

    Any help appreciated

    display in windows 7 outlook.

I was able to perform a basic drag and drop of an email message to my Archive folder without issue. See screenshot. Could you explain in further detail if this is what you are trying to accomplish?
