Getting rid of softonic popups

I have read lots of info on the internet about how to get rid of "en.softonic.com" popups and have not found any to be helpful.  I can't find it on the program files or registry of my PC.  I'm running on Windows 7 Home Premium edition.  How to I get rid of them?  Please keep in mind, I am an old lady who is  not all that computer savvy.  Thanks.

    Suggest reading/doing: https://blog.malwarebytes.com/security-world/technology/2019/01/browser-push-notifications-feature-asking-abused/.

    And:

Get a good ad blocker. Tracking blockers help too.

I use the free browser extensions uBlock Origin and Ghostery.

    Block 3rd party cookies etc...

I don't think so.  It has not affected my browser home page, but I am continuously getting Popups from en.softonic.  I have tried adding them to my "block" popups page, but that hasn't helped.

The information on the Browser "Push Notifications" was very helpful as was using Emsisoft.  Using both suggestions, I was able to eliminate the notifications!   Thanks so  much for your help.   Best news was that it was written for those of us who are just a little bit knowledgeable...enough to be dangerous!!!!
