Customising default columns in File Explorer (Win 10)

I am doing a lot of work with umpteen folders and I would find it easier if I could customise the columns in File Explorer instead of having to reset them with each change of folder.  So far all the methods I have read just don't work.  Before I finally accept that this is no longer possible (if it ever was), has anyone got a method that really works?

    Hi Alan

Go to a folder in File Explorer

Set the columns, view . . etc exactly as you like them to be

Then on the View Ribbon (tab) click 'Options'

On the resulting dialog, on the 'View' tab, click 'Apply to folders'

    Then click Apply and OK

    Close File Explorer

Any folder that contains the same type of data, should then have that view . . .

No, Dave, I know about that one.  It doesn't work (for me).

This no longer works since the introduction of Windows 10

Thank you.  I think I'll stop expecting anything much of Windows 10.  It seems to have been a case of two steps forward and three back.  Another feature I miss is the "show windows side by side" one.  The option is shown, but never works.

Perhaps Windows 12 should be abandoned in case it further reduces functionality.

That does not work.  It's really annoying to constantly see the Status and File Ownership columns repeatedly show up when I've hidden them.  There's a bug in this release.
