Since I posted, I have been getting replies that I said the Envy 5660 was not compatible with Windows 10, also get "nailed" for saying Microsoft rep (after spending 3-4 hours working with them over the phone and on my computer) is not a Microsoft rep but
a 3rd party that Microsoft hires. The reply indicated that these people do not know what they are doing and only read a set script. GOT IT. This is my last reply. Here is what happened and why I am HAPPY with end result.
1. Have had HP Envy 5660 printer/scanner for over 3 years and it has worked great. It even works with Windows 10, so I know it was COMPATIBLE.
2. 2 days ago, I downloaded the latest Windows 10 update. That is when the Envy 5660 would no longer work. My computer recognized the printer but would not print or scan. I tried removing and reinstalling and checking for HP printer updates. NO GOOD.
3. Chat line with the 3rd party Microsoft rep. We tried several things, including removing the Envy 5660, reinstalling, and checking for latest updates. NO GOOD!!
4. Finally, whoever I was chatting with, recommended that I "reset" my computer for a date prior to my installing the Windows 10 update. We chose a date 4 days ago. Bottom line: This did the trick. Envy 5660 now working, both print and scan mode.
So, WINDOWS 10 is compatible with Envy 5660, just not the latest update, at least not on my computer (HP Pavilion). The 3rd party Microsoft contractor, while NOT a Microsoft rep was very knowledgeable and professional. So I am happy that someone who apparently
Microsoft does not think are very knowledgeable got my system up and running.
