I just recently began having trouble with Windows vista.  Important parts of programs disappear or begin to malfunction.  Now, Windows installer won't install, anything.  I have found fixes for most everything, but can't install it.

Is there anything I can do to fix my problem?

     Please help.

...Now, Windows installer won't install, anything.  I have found fixes for most everything, but can't install it....

    Hi GilbertGerardo:

Please note that extended support for Vista SP2 ended on 11-Apr-2017 and there have been no new updates released for the Vista SP2 operating system and Internet Explorer 9 browser via Windows Update since then.

When you say "Windows installer won't install anything", do you mean that Windows Update (Control Panel | System and Maintenance | Windows Update) doesn't run to completion when you click Check for Updates? This is a common problem on Vista SP2 computers and a fix is posted on page 1 of m#l's thread Updates not working, it has been searching for updates for hours.

Background information on the cause of this problem is posted in the VistaForums FAQ How to Fix Vista SP2 "Checking for Updates..." Hangs and Slow Windows Updates.

If you are affected by these Windows Update hangs and require further assistance, post back and let me know the Updates Versions of your Internet Explorer 9 browser at Help | About Internet Explorer as shown below (you should have v9.0.60 / KB4014661 if you are patched up to 11-Apr-2017) and whether you have Microsoft Office 2010, Microsoft Office 2007 and/or the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack(an add-on that allows older MS Office products to work with files with newer Open XML formats like .docx, .xlsx, etc.) installed.

If your Windows Updates are working correctly, then let us know if "Windows installer" means the Windows Installer v4.5 for Vista (sometimes called the Microsoft Installer) that is required to run installation packages that have a .MSI file extension.

You don't just go and put 10 on an older Vista machine.

There are a lot of checks to do before you buy 10:

But first make sure that you have the correct system requirements and that your Computer Manufacturer supplies the correct Drivers for 10 for your Model Number.

Some Manufacturers have listed Model Numberss tested with 10 at their website:

ASUS - Windows 10 - Which model supports upgrade to Windows 10?

Acer - Windows 10 Creators Update

Dell computers tested for Windows 10 October 2018 Update and previous versions of Windows 10

The following Gateway laptops, desktops and tablets have been tested as being suitable to install Windows 10 Creators Update

HP Products Tested with Windows 10

Lenovo devices tested for Windows 10 version 1809 (October 2018

Samsung - Find out if your system runs Windows 10.

Sony - What do I need to install Windows 10 on my PC?

    Hi there,

What errors are you getting? And what are you trying to install?

BTW, Microsoft has ended support for Windows Vista. It's better to upgrade to Windows 10.

Refer the following link for the same.
