Hi, I've been having issues with bluetooth. I uninstalled the the Generic Bluetooth Radio driver from the bluetooth node of the device manager.  When I scan for hardware changes, Windows does not detect that the driver is missing and does not reinstall it. What I need is a link to download a new copy of the driver. Please do not recommend using troubleshooters as I've already used them and they've been no help with this problem. All I need is a way to reinstall the Generic Bluetooth Radio driver. Thank you.

Hi if. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

Most times the generic driver is not the intended driver but only a placeholder we need to replace with the actual device driver. So Update your Bluetooth Driver from the PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker.

Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Make sure you have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

There are at least nine sets of Troubleshooting Steps for Bluetooth out of which one almost always works. Since you stated you didnt' want any troubleshooting Steps I will wait to provide them until you ask.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

    Hi, IF2242,

Do you have a copy of the generic driver on the computer?

If no, is there one on the Manufacturer's website?

Did you look in Driver folder?

    C:WindowsSystem32DriverStore.

If you cannot locate the generic driver, go to Microsoft Update Catalog and search for it.

    https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx

    Put it in DriverStore folder

Go to Device Manager > Select the Bluetooth device

Right click on the driver > Select Update

Select Let me browse my computer for drivers for this device

    Browser to the DriverStore Folder

Select the Driver and let Windows Install it.
