Intel(R) HD Graphics driver 4400 blocked from starting after windows update - code 48

Hi, My Intel(R) HD Graphics 4400 driver forAcer Aspire E5-571 device has been blocked from starting by a recent Windows update because it is known to have problems with Windows and consequently my HDMI output no longer works.

The error message in Device Manager says to Contact the hardware vendor for a new driver (Code 48) - the driver is up to date according to the Intel driver support assistant and windows update.

Please can someone advise me how to make my HDMI port works again?

Hi Stefano, thank you for your reply.

I already tried to roll the driver back and though the icon saying the driver was blocked disappeared, the HDMI port still didn't work.

So I went to the Acer support page and downloaded the last drivers and installed them, still no luck and the blocked driver icon was back.

I did restart each time by the way.

I then asked Windows update to up date the driver and the message is that the latest driver is already installed.

Now I can't roll back the driver any more. The error message in Device Manager still says to Contact the hardware vendor for a new driver (Code 48).

Is there anything else I can do?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi flikst1

It is true, that there seems to be an issue with the 4000 series of Intel HD Graphics driver, a lot of users are reporting the same thing

Try downloading the driver form this page, to see if that will install correctly, if necessary, remove the current driver, before installing that driver . . .
